Questions With Answers

Everything hosts ask before their first event.

LiveJudge is mobile scoring, judging and fan-voting software for live events. Judges score from their own phones, the audience follows and votes from theirs, and you control the rubric down to the last element. Below is what people want to know before they commit an event to it.

Do attendees, contestants, and judges have to download an app?

No. LiveJudge runs in any phone browser. Judges, contestants, and fans open a link or scan a QR code and they are in. There is nothing to install and nothing to update.

My competitors and judges will never remember passwords.

They don't need to. Sign-in is by SMS code, so there are no passwords to forget. A judge enters a phone number, taps the code, and starts scoring.

Will we need WiFi?

No dedicated network required. Judges, contestants and fans use their own devices and connections. No routers, no cables, no venue network to arrange.

How do I get started?

Sign in, build your event, and start testing. Most hosts go from sign-in to a working test event in about two minutes. Set up any event before September 30, 2026 and every feature is free.

Can you help us set up?

Yes. Send us your paper scoresheet and we will convert it into a working rubric for free, then walk you through your first event.

What is your pricing model?

Pay-as-you-go. No subscriptions, no per-seat licence, and no credit card to start. After the free period you are charged on how each entrant got in: $2.99 an individual or $19.99 a team if you import them, or 2.9% of the checkout plus a flat fee if they register and pay through LiveJudge. Fan voting is free for the first 100 votes an event, then $0.10 a vote. Full detail is on the pricing page.

How do contestants enter events and competition classes?

Contestants self-register for classes and ballots, or you import and add them from the console. You can also run invite-only events. Entries added once can be reused across any event you host.

How much of the rubric do I actually control?

All of it. You define the classes, the elements inside each class, the weight of every element, and the score increments. LiveJudge honors the rubric you build exactly rather than bending your event to fit a template.

How does LiveJudge stop one harsh judge from skewing the results?

You choose the normalization method from Raw average, High/low drop, Z-score, and Olympic-Z. Each one makes a strict panel and a lenient one carry equal weight, so no single judge's calibration decides the outcome. The method is your call, and the raw scores are always preserved underneath.

What score increments can judges use?

Increments of 0.5, 0.25, and 0.1, set per event. Judges score with color-graded sliders or in Heads-Up Mode, which uses tap buttons or deduction blocks for events where a judge cannot look down at a screen.

What kinds of events does it run?

Anything judged. Academic and pitch events (pitch competitions, science fairs, abstract review, case competitions, hackathons, speech contests), shows and showcases (car, motorcycle, pet, and RC events, cook-offs), and dance and performance (dance, cheer, pageants, talent, gymnastics). It handles both individual and entry-based formats.

Can the audience vote as well as watch?

Yes. Fan voting runs on the audience's own phones, with sponsored ballots if you want them, and geo-fencing so you can limit voting to people actually present at the event.

What do contestants get out of it?

A live contestant list with photos and specs, their own standing as it moves, and an official score report when results go final. The paperwork is finished the moment scoring closes.

Can we get a live demo?

Yes. Schedule a demo and we will walk you through the console, the judge's seat, and the fairness engine on your own event type.
